Apparently @om didn't avail himself of the free trial period. I am willing to bet that he would have immediately gotten his money refunded in full had he simply asked. Instead, he spent $15 and then tweeted his tantrum.

For what its worth, I was not a MarsEdit 2.x customer, but I am a very happy MarsEdit 3.0 customer.

His comments weren't additive. He made no specific claims in his followup. He was simply reiterating his position on MarsEdit, that it sucks. I hope his blog post will be more illuminating!

"I read those and wasn’t satisfied, so I didn’t talk about them here."

What an odd decision and rationale. Without them the story is not complete...why not address them and why they didn't satisfy you?

I've been hearing from Om Malik now; he's read this post. He claims to have gone further in his tweets when he was challenged by another follower, but I read those and wasn't satisfied, so I didn't talk about them here.

However, Om Malik now says he will write a blog post soon about his thoughts on MarsEdit, which pleases me greatly. I'll update this post when that happens.

Well put and I absolutely agree with you. While I'm not sure how many of Om's followers are potential MarsEdit customers, that kind of flip and empty comment provides no value at all, certainly not to Red-Sweater, but not to Om's followers either.

Not following Om myself I don't know whether his commentary is usually this valueless; maybe this is unusual, maybe this is what you always get.

I agree. The more "influence" you have, the more careful you need to be. To simply take the approach that you are not changing how you post, just because you have a lot of followers, doesn't work. If you want to post something negative, you should at least explain why you think that way. Otherwise, you can just write whatever you want and follows may just believe you because you are considered credible based upon your large number of followers.
